Department of Diagnostic Ultrasound

The Department is one of the national training bases authorized by the Health of Ministry for prenatal diagnostic ultrasound professionals in the country.

The Department has 25 qualified staff with expertise in diagnostic ultrasound,including two professors and one associate professor.And some of our staff serve in national, provincial and municipal ultrasound oriented organizations and committees.

Being the largest ultrasound diagnostic and treatment center for women and children in Southwestern China, the Department is equipped with state-of-the-art ultround facility and provides a wide range of ultrasound examinations,covering clinical,research and education requirements.Average annual examinations of the department reach 200,000. And PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) is now used in the department, enabling clinical images and reports to be stored electronically and viewed on screen,and leading to a faster availability of results.And as the Sichuan provincial prenatal diagnostic center,the department drew up the prenatal diagnostic norms of Sichuan province,which is promoted in the province.And average annual examinations for prenatal ultrasound diagnosis exceed 20,000.

The Department has won ten more grants supported by international cooperation fund,national key scientific and technologic programs, Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Sichuan Provincial Department of Health respectively.And we have published over 200 papers,one medical book as chief editor and three medical books as co-editor.

The Department assumes responsibility for teaching of undergraduate students,students in residency program,and students for advanced study from the province and the country, turning out over 30 ultrasound professionals for local hospitals in rural areas each year.The Department also holds training courses supported by National and Provincial Continuing Medical Education Program on prenatal diagnosis with ultrasonic imaging.
