On March 1, the founding ceremony of West China Children’s Medical Center of SCU was held on West China Campus. SCU EVP Li Hong, leaders and staff from West China Hospital, West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Medical Administration Office and some journalists attended the ceremony.

For historical reasons, the Department of Pediatric Surgery and the Department of Pediatrics were set up in West China Hospital and West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital separately, which causes much inconveniences to pediatric patients.　In order to break down the faculty barriers and disciplinary boundaries, integrate and share medical resources and benefit the patients, the two hospitals applied to establish West China Children’s Medical Center.

The Center is mainly responsible for the overall planning and coordination of the implementation of pediatrics discipline construction. According to the medical reality, the Center will open Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery consultation clinics at West China Hospital and West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital simultaneously. Besides, the green channel for inter-hospital patient referral and consultation will be built up. The Center is committed to solving the problem of “Seeing a doctor is difficult” in an effective way by integrating medical resources and optimizing service process.
