Division of Intensive Care Unit of Gynecology and Obstetrics, West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University

The Division of Intensive Care Unit of Gynecology and Obstetrics was established in 2009 and is one of the earliest specialized ICU of obstetrics and gynecology in China. The Division has set up wards at both Huaxi Campus and Jinjiang Campus. The wards are equipped with invasive ventilators (Maquet Servo), non-invasive ventilators (Philips), continuous blood purification therapeutic apparatus（Gambro/ Fresenius）, ECMO, transport ventilators (Drager), respiratory humidification therapy device(Fisher & Paykel), arterial blood gas analyzer(Radiometer), and other advanced specialized monitoring and treatment equipment.

The division currently has 12 physicians and 39 nurses. The department has accumulated extensive clinical experience in the management of perioperative and perinatal critical diseases in gynecology and obstetrics, and is the referral and treatment center for critical emergencies in gynecology and obstetrics of the "West China Women's and Children's Alliance".

Director: Xinsheng Xue, M.D., chief physician. From 1995 to 2018, Dr. Xue has worked in the ICU of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and has been the director of ICU of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2018. He has been rated as the outstanding individual in medical treatment of West China Hospital, the outstanding individual in health emergency work in Sichuan Province, and outstanding worker in Sichuan Province. He has published more than ten papers in SCI, Medline and other core journals as the first author. He is the chief editor and co-editor of "Diagnosis and Treatment of Critical Diseases in Internal Medicine", "Practical Critical Care Monitoring and Treatment", "Key Points of Abdominal Surgery and Perioperative Management", "Neurosurgical Critical Care Monitoring and Treatment",etc. He is currently a member of the Special Committee of Critical Care Medicine of Sichuan Medical Association.

Deputy Director: Fei Xiao, M.D., Deputy Chief Physician. She has worked in ICU of gynecology and obstetrics since 2009. Dr. Xiao has published many papers in Nat Commun and other journals as the first author, and has won 3 grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Xiao participated in the compilation of the textbook "Clinical Intensive Medicine Course", and currently serves as a member of the Intensive Physician Branch of Sichuan Medical Association.
