Pediatric Cardiac Interventional Treatment Center

The division/center originated from the Unit of Pediatric Cardiovascular Disease of the former West China University of Medical Sciences,and was established as an independent division with the founding of West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University.The division/center is the first of its kind in the country to conduct interventional treatment for children with congenital heart disease.And for more than 30 years'development, the division/center has become a leader in the field of pediatric cardiology in Southwestern China, and one of the 8 best interventional treatment centers in the country,and plays a key role in patient care,education and research.

We have a team of cardiac professionals with specialized skill and rich experience.The division/center is equipped with state of the art equipments,and provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with known or suspected heart disease.And we take the lead in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric congenital heart disease,viral myocarditis,rheumatic carditis,idiopathic cardiomyopathy, and coronary arterial injury in Kawasaki disease in the country.

The division/center was approved as the first training ba-x-se for pediatric cardiologists in the country by China Medical Association in 2006,and held its first training course on interventional treatment of pediatric congenital cardiovascular anomaly in Southwest China.The division/center also held the joint training program on treatment of pediatric congenital cardiovascular anomaly with Children's HeartLink

of USA. And since 2007 we are authorized to hold training courses on interventional treatment of pediatric congenital cardiovascular anomaly supported by national continued education program of CMA.

We have 8 professors,2 associate professors,7 attending physicians,3 residents,and 23 nurses,including 2 doctoral advisers,2 advisers for master degree candidates,3 academic leaders of Sichuan province,and one ministerial level outstanding expert.And some of our staffs hold positions in national or provincial academic associations of cardiology.

And in research, the division/center is growing as a center for excellence in cardiovascular research in the country.  We have won 3 projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China. And our staffs have published many articles on leading international journals.
