The Emergency Department (ED) of West China Second University Hospital is the chair unit of the Branch of Pediatrician of Intensive Pediatric Medicine,the Sichuan Medical Doctor Association, the vice chair unit of the Sichuan Branch of the China Emergency Quality Control Alliance, and the leader unit of Maternal and Child Emergency Medicine Group of the Emergency Medicine Committee of Sichuan Medical Association. It has established cooperative relationships with more than 70 medical units in Sichuan Province. For a long time, ED has provided referral, consultation and emergency treatment for critically ill women and children in Sichuan Province and even the western region. It is the network point of Chengdu 120 First-aid Center, Chengdu referral center for critically ill pregnant women, and Sichuan neonatal referral center. It can carry out pre-hospital first aid, in-hospital first aid, emergency observation, outpatient infusion and so on. ED has two clinical branches: Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as pediatrics., The emergency area has emergency room, diagnosis room, emergency observation room, emergency intensive care unit (EICU), emergency operating room, infusion center, and aerosol inhalation room. ED is also in charge of Gastro-intestinal clinic and fever clinic. There are also auxiliary departments of ED, including  pharmacy, clinical laboratory, radiology department, and charging office. They all work for 24 hours per day to meet the needs of emergency patients.
