Division of Reproductive Endocrinology

The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology, established in 1970, focuses on the diagnosis and treatment, teaching and research of gynecological endocrine diseases, as well as the research and teaching of family planning techniques, complications and reproductive regulation. In 2020, it became a research and teaching center of gynecological endocrinology and health education under the National Health Commission Capacity Building and Continuing Education Center. In 2020, a research laboratory of reproductive endocrinology and reproductive regulation was established to conduct research on female reproductive regulation and disease management in senior women.

After more than 50 years of development, the center has become the largest gynecological endocrinology institute in western China, ranking among the forefront in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological endocrinology diseases, minimally invasive surgery for tubal infertility, and research on female postmenopausal diseases. It has opened special clinics for reproductive endocrinology, infertility, menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome, ovulation monitoring, nutrition and exercise testing, and family planning, with an average care of more than 120,000 outpatients and 4,700 inpatients every year.

The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of our hospital was the first to open menopause clinic in China in 1986. After more than 30 years of development, it was accepted as one of the first National Menopause Health Care Specialty units in 2019 by the National Health Commission.

As one of the four HRT training bases of the National Health Commission, it has trained more than 2000 specialists for the western region. Through diverse training programs including training of doctor of Reproductive Endocrinology Alliance,  training of gynecological endocrinology of the Ministry of Health, and regional lecture tour of Western Gynecological Endocrinology Alliance, the menopause medical care training program has expanded to the greater southwestern region. With the implementation of information technology, we have established a regional postmenopausal disease diagnosis and treatment mode based on the characteristics of West China Second University Hospital through the approach of hierarchical diagnosis and treatment and top-down referral among the medical treatment combination.
